A judge of the Supreme Court of Brazil removed from office to the Governor of the Federal District of Brasilia, Ibaneis Rochafor 90 days, following the assault this Sunday by thousands of Bolsonaro radicals on the headquarters of the three powers to try to overthrow President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The decision was made by the magistrate Alexander of Moraeswho also ordered state security bodies and forces to take action to clear any type of street or public building occupied by supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro across the country.
In this sense, the judge ordered the total removal “within 24 hours” of the camps set up in front of the military barracks by the former president’s followers.
The judge, who responded to a request from Lula’s allies, indicated that the “violent escalation” against the headquarters of the three powers “could only take place with the consent, and also the effective participation”, of the competent authorities for the public safety and intelligence.
Likewise, he stressed that the organization of these coup acts was a “known and well-known fact, reported by the Brazilian press.”
In this way De Moraes aimed directly at Rocha, who hours earlier had apologized to President Lula and to the leaders of the legislative and judicial powers for the serious events that occurred on Sunday afternoon in the Brazilian capital.
Rocha had also suddenly fired his security secretary, Anderson Torres, who was justice minister in the last two years of the Bolsonaro government (2019-2022) and is a figure very close to the now ex-ruler.
Faced with the chaos generated, President Lula has decreed federal intervention in the security area of Brasilia until January 31, with which the regional police will be under the control of the central government during that period.
The assault on Congress, the Presidency and the Supreme Court was resolved only after four and a half hours of confusion, when riot police loaded and fired tear gas canisters at the exalted inside and outside the buildings of the three powers.
These radical groups do not recognize the result of the October 30 presidential elections, which Lula won over Bolsonaro, and have long been calling for a military “intervention” to restore the retired army captain to power, currently in the United States with no plans to return . .
So far there are about 400 detainees for Sunday’s anti-democratic acts, widely condemned by all Brazilian institutions and by the international community.
