It was found that the approval rating of US President Joe Biden for state affairs reached 46%, the highest in a year.
According to the results of a poll released on the 22nd (local time) by US public broadcasters NPR and PBS in collaboration with the polling company Marist, 46% of respondents supported President Biden.
This is the highest since March last year in the same opinion poll. President Biden’s approval rating plummeted in August 2021, after his inauguration, due to the chaos with the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.
President Biden’s approval rating peaked at 47% in March of last year, but fell to 36% in July of the same year, recovered to 44% in September of last year, and then rose to 46% in this survey.
NPR cited the better-than-expected results of the US midterm elections as reasons for the rise in President Biden’s approval rating, the expansion of Democratic Party supporters’ confidence in the State of the Union address earlier this month, and the gathering of supporters following the impending declaration of a re-election challenge.
However, only 36% of the nonpartisans responded that they supported President Biden.
NPR pointed out, “One warning sign is that non-partisan approval ratings for Biden remain low.”
In this survey, 50% of Democratic supporters and Democratic-leaning nonpartisans answered that the Democratic Party would most likely remain in power if President Biden is nominated as the next presidential candidate.
Of these groups, 45% said the Democratic Party should nominate someone else as their next presidential nominee.
In a survey last November, 54% of Democratic supporters and Democratic-leaning nonpartisans answered that a candidate other than Biden should be the next Democratic presidential candidate.
In the Republican Party, 54% of Republican supporters and Republican-leaning independents said that a candidate other than former President Donald Trump would be the presidential candidate to regain power. 42% of respondents said Trump should be put forward.
Meanwhile, this poll was conducted between the 13th and 16th of the last 1352 adults and 1200 registered voters across the United States, and the margin of error is ±3.3 percentage points.
