A man suspected of killing a woman on Wednesday in Florida returned to the crime scene and killed a nine-year-old girl and a television reporterauthorities said.
A crew from Spectrum News 13 traveled to Pine Hills near Orlando at around 4pm local time (2100 GMT) to cover the morning shooting of 20-year-old Orange County Sheriff John Mine.
The horror started around 11 when the alleged gunman, Keith Melvin MosesAged 19, he allegedly shot and killed a 20-year-old woman sitting in a car on the street, Mina said.
Moses reportedly returned to the scene five hours later and shot a crew from Spectrum News 13 who were there reporting on the initial killing.
Both a News 13 reporter and a photographer who were in and near his news van were killed. The 24-year-old reporter, identified Thursday by the family as Dylan Lyons, has died. The photographer was hospitalized in critical condition, Mina said, as revealed New York Post.
Nearby, the same suspect entered a house for no apparent reason e shot a woman and her nine-year-old daughter.
The girl died of her injuries in the hospital as her mother fought for her life, the sheriff said.
Officers arrested Moses after the subsequent shooting and confirmed it he was also a suspect in the 20-year-old woman’s murder. He was charged with one count of murder for the morning shooting and faces further charges for the second and third shootings, Mina said.
He was armed with a handgun, which officers believe was the murder weapon, when he was stopped by police.
According to police, he had a long criminal history which included weapon charges, aggravated assault and assault with a deadly weapon, robbery and grand larceny.
“We have arrested the suspect responsible for this morning’s murder, as well as this afternoon’s shootings,” said the sheriff, who detailed Moses’ criminal history with counts of firearms, aggravated assault and assault with a weapon deadly, among others.
The detainee had no relationship with the mother and daughter he shot or with journalists, the officer explained. He knew, however, that the woman was killed in the morning.
“No one in our community, not a mother, not a nine-year-old, let alone media professionals, should be a victim of gun violence,” Mina lamented.
