US President Joe Biden’s approval rating for state affairs reached its highest level in 11 months since March last year. Based on his rising approval rating, the prospect that he will declare a re-election challenge in April at the earliest has also been raised. However, former President Donald Trump, the presidential candidate of the opposition Republican Party, and Florida Governor Ron Disantis unanimously criticized the Biden administration’s surprise visit to Ukraine and its foreign policy.

According to a survey released on the 22nd by the US public broadcaster NPR-PBS and the polling company Marist, 46% of the respondents said they “support the president’s conduct of state affairs.” It is the highest since March last year (47%). In this survey, President Biden’s approval rating fell to 36% in July of last year and rebounded. A total of 1,352 people participated in the survey from the 13th to the 16th, and the sampling error was ±3.3 percentage points. The results of President Biden’s ‘surprise visit’ to Ukraine on the 20th were not reflected.

In particular, 88% of the supporters of the ruling Democratic Party said, “I support the president.” Among Democratic-leaning non-partisan voters, the response that “prefers a candidate other than President Biden” also decreased from 54% in November last year, when the midterm elections were held, to 45%. NPR analyzed that the Democratic Party’s propaganda in the midterm elections and the traditional gathering of supporters following the imminent re-election challenge led to the rise in approval ratings.

On this day, political media Politico predicted that President Biden would declare a re-election challenge in April at the earliest. He announced his candidacy in April 2019, a year before the 2020 presidential election. Former presidents who succeeded in re-election as members of the Democratic Party, such as former Presidents Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton, also explained that they all declared their re-election in April of the year before the re-election was held.

However, existing bad news, such as allegations that President Biden improperly handled classified documents during his vice president days and various scandals surrounding his son Hunter, have not yet been resolved. In particular, as the Republican Party, which won the majority in the House of Representatives in the midterm elections, has declared an extensive investigation into the two issues, there is a counterargument that there is no need to hurry to declare a run for the president to enjoy the advantage of the incumbent to the fullest.

Republican presidential candidates attacked President Biden, who formalized additional support in the Ukrainian capital Kieu, with harsh expressions such as’war mania’ and’blank check policy’. Former President Trump tweeted on the 22nd, “Crazy warmongers and globalists are profiting from endless wars. We need to get rid of the corrupt globalist establishment that has ruined US foreign policy for decades.” Governor Disantis also urged Fox TV to stop supporting it, saying, “We are using a blank check policy that cannot find a clear goal.”
