“The Spanish smell of onions, it’s awful.” How disgusting. “Smelly armpits.” And that “here’s soap and deodorant.” Two young Venezuelans in front of the cell phone camera. It doesn’t look like they are doing badly financially. Her parents have decided to move to Galicia, Spain, and here they are, recording a video on TikTok titled “Things we don’t like about living in Spain”. The event went viral. In the recording they criticize the hygiene, the schedules and also the fact that the Spaniards don’t know how to dance.

“They smell awful, not all of them, but it’s too common,” one of them said, hinting that there is no proper toilet. Her friend added that she did not understand why, given that “here there is water, shampoo, soap and deodorant” and despite this the Spaniards smell “of the violin, of stinky armpits”. They point out that it must be something “cultural”, because “you get in the bus and they smell like onions, it’s horrible”.

“They can’t dance. Put them a bachata and they dance a reggaeton, you put them a reggaeton and they start dancing a poorly danced merengue”, they continue.

They also have something to say about leisure. They criticize that everything is closed on Sundays and there is nothing to do. As for the party, they are surprised by how much they drink in Spain. “They smoke and drink (drink) a lot. Before entering the disco, people are already vomiting. You go to the disco and the most normal thing in the world is to see people vomit and for them that’s very normal.”
