The authorities have transferred the two nationals who survived the kidnapping in Mexico to the United States

The Mexican authorities moved this Tuesday to the United States released the two US citizenss after being kidnapped last Friday in the northern state of Tamaulipas, along with two other citizens of the neighboring country who died in the dramatic events.

“Federal and state corporations, staffed by the United States Consulate in Matamoros, They delivered 2 citizens of that country over an international bridge, find today after they were deprived of their liberty on March 3,” Tamaulipas prosecutor Irving Barrios said on Twitter.

Matamoros is located just 4 kilometers from Brownsville (Texas), on the other side of the border.

35 minutes ago it was confirmed by the Prosecutor’s Office (that) of the four (Americans) there are two dead, one person injured and another alive, Villareal explained in a live call during the daily morning conference of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador .

When the loudspeaker was put on, the governor explained that an hour earlier he had been notified that there were indications that he had seen the four US citizens.

Likewise, he said the authorities and relatives are currently on their way to the scene and medical personnel are also arriving. “to provide any medical support that may be needed.”

The secretary of public safety and citizen protection, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, communicated during the conference that there is already a detainee in connection with the case.

Rodríguez will hold a press conference at 1pm local time (7pm GMT) to provide more details on the progress of the case.

The FBI reported the disappearance of the four Americans on Sunday, kidnapped last Friday after crossing the border in the border town of Matamorosin Tamaulipas, one of the Mexican states hardest hit by the violence.

Investigators believe the Americans were wrongly targeted by a Mexican cartel who likely mistook them for Haitian drug traffickers, a US official familiar with the investigation told CNN.
