On the day of his disappearance, when his wife Jennifer returned home, her husband’s car was parked in front of the house and there were belongings such as a wallet and keys in the house, but the husband was nowhere to be seen.

After not being able to reach him for a day, his wife reported him missing to the police the next day. “The last time her husband called to say ‘I’m leaving work early,’ she was unreachable,” she told police.

The police were dispatched and searched the couple’s house, but could not find any clues. Her wife went in search of her husband, putting up posters of her missing, but could not find out her whereabouts.

After some time, the wife reported that there was a bad smell in the house, and the police came to search the house twice more, but could not find any cause. I ended up calling a plumber to put a lid on the basement drain. After that, the stench was gone.

Her husband’s whereabouts were revealed ahead of Christmas that year. Eight months after her disappearance, on December 11 last year, her wife found her mummified body while searching her closet for her Christmas decorations.

After an autopsy and investigation, Mira’s identity was confirmed as Richard, and the cause of death was determined to be suicide. The coroner’s office determined there was no possibility of a homicide.

The coroner’s office explained, “The stench must have disappeared as the body has gone through decomposition and mummified.”

The police, who searched the house a total of three times, gave a poor explanation, saying, “At the time of the search, it was difficult to find the house because there were so many things inside the house.

The bereaved family criticized the police’s insufficient investigation, saying, “It could have been found earlier.”
