French police shot dead Sunday night in central Paris two people and injured a third driving in the wrong direction in a car to attack members of the security forces.

Police sources told EFE that police fired at the vehicle when they saw it threatened by their advance on the Pont Neufthe oldest in the city on the Seine River.

The incident would have happened around 11:45 pm local time, at which time Macron’s supporters and spectators they left the act of the president in the public space of the Champs de Mars.

The Pont Neuf bridge is located between the Louvre Museum and Notre Dame Cathedral, and just a few kilometers from the Champs de Mars. Place there was a high level of security due to election day held on Sunday in France.

The prosecution identified the two dead-the 25-year-old driver and the 31-year-old passenger sitting in the front seat-and a 42-year-old passenger in the back seat, who he was hurt during the shooting. A magistrate traveled to the scene of the events to make the initial inquiries and start the investigation.

Along with this judicial investigation for the attempted murder of persons endowed with authority, another administrative investigation was launched by the National Police General Inspection (IGPN), as happens ex officio when security forces use their guns.
