A 23-year-old man has told of the horror experienced by his girlfriend, who died in the fire at the family home. Diego Ampuero was working at dawn on March 11 when he received a heartbreaking phone call from his girlfriend Constanza Parra González.
There the young woman desperately asked for help., as she was trapped in her burning house and couldn’t get out. For more than 7 minutes she asked for help and help from her partner, who was not near her house to help her.
“It was 4:44 in the morning when he called me. ‘Call me soon my love, I’m about to die’, he told me in an audio”,
Desperate, the man quit his job, took his car and went home. But nothing could be done there.
“I drove as fast as I could. I was listening to his call for help, that the house was engulfed in flames… I couldn’t do anything, I didn’t arrive in time,” Diego Ampuero said.
“We had lived together for three years and now this has happened. I don’t know how to continue. The firefighters did what they could, I couldn’t save her either,” he recalled disconsolately. The dramatic situation occurred in the municipality of San Antonio, in central Chile.
When asked if he believes the fire was intentional, Diego Ampuero acknowledged that it was “because last December they tried to burn down a relative’s house and that time I wasn’t there either and now it happened new”.
“This is pure evil. The only thing I want is for this to be clarified, we are all wrong,” he added.
The PDI Homicide Brigade is waiting for the background to clarify the dynamics of the facts.
