Freddy Mercury he died on November 24, 1991, he was 45 years old. In her last days, by her side were her Queen mates and the great love of her life, Mary Austin.

Farrokh Bulsara, Mercury’s real name, met Marya in the early 1970s at the Biba boutique where she worked. They were a couple for six years, between 1970 and 1976. The singer even proposed to her, although their engagement never materialized, they remained great friends until Mercury’s death.

The relationship ended when he discovered his homosexuality. However, Mary remained one of the most important people in the artist’s inner circle until her death in 1991.

“It took me a while to fall in love with that man, but when it did, I was never able to get away from him. His pain became my pain, his happiness became my happiness,” Austin once said.

Mary turned 72 on March 6 and the networks were flooded with images from the time and a current photo of the singer’s ex-boyfriend.

Austin became a faithful companion to Mercury, who always referred to her as his “wife”. The singer left her half of her fortune (estimated at £75m) and her villa at Garden Lodge (valued at £25m).

He is also heir to a percentage of Mercury’s music royalties, a figure that continues to rise considering the successful projects Mercury launched after his death.

Austin has protected and preserved Mercury’s legacy and is the steward of its estate and copyrights.

Among the songs Mercury wrote in honor of the affection and love she professed for him is Love of my life, in which the verse stands out: “Love of my life, do not leave me. You have taken my love, all my love. Now you abandon me”.

As for her personal life, the woman has been very discreet all these years, but it is known that she married Piers Cameron in 1990 and has two sons: Jamie and Richard.

After three years of marriage, she divorced the English businessman and continued her life alone. At present, she is keeping busy in some business activities.
