Russian President Vladimir Putin has argued that Russia’s survival depends on the war in Ukraine.
According to Reuters on the 14th (local time), President Putin spoke at an aircraft manufacturing plant in Buryatia that day and reiterated his assertion that “the West tends to divide Russia.”
“For us, this (war) is not a geopolitical task, but a survival task for the Russian state, which creates conditions for the future development of the country and our children,” he said.
Putin also claimed that the West was trying to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia through the war in Ukraine.
In addition, Putin said the West imposed unprecedented sanctions on Russia last year, but it is recovering faster than expected.

“They expected us to collapse in two or three weeks or a month, factories to shut down, unemployment to rise, the financial system to collapse, and so on and so forth, shaking and collapsing inside Russia,” he said. “That didn’t happen. It turns out that Russia’s fundamental foundations are stronger than previously thought.” Reporter Cha Mi-rye = The Ukrainian government has finalized and approved the 2023-2025 action plan of the National Anti-Corruption Organization, Interfax Ukraine news agency reported on the 14th (local time).
According to this anti-corruption action plan, all government departments, implementing agencies, and all government entities, including state-owned enterprises, must prepare anti-corruption action measures and report their implementation to the National Anti-Corruption Organization.
The anti-corruption campaign is part of the 2021-2025 Five-Year Plan for Anti-Corruption Policy, the news agency reported.
Adoption of this anti-corruption policy is one of the key challenges on Ukraine’s path to joining and becoming a member of the European Union, the government said in a statement.
The Ukrainian government explained that the anti-corruption program would lead to the introduction of new standards for the activities of the government’s public sector bodies and would have the effect of strengthening public scrutiny of the activities of semi-state companies and organizations.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has promised “new reforms” and Ukrainian authorities conducted a nationwide anti-corruption search on February 1st.
According to a CNN report at the time, David Arakamia, the leader of the majority party in the Ukrainian parliament, said, “During the war, the country will change. If someone is not ready to change, the state will help them change.”
The previous day, President Zelensky announced that he was preparing for change ahead of the February 3 summit with the European Union.
The remarks came after President Zelensky made changes to senior government officials involved in a corruption scandal. An anti-corruption investigation led to the largest government reorganization since Russia invaded Ukraine, sacking some ministers.
