The creator of Peaky Blinders, Steven Knightis set to write the script for the as-yet-untitled “Star Wars” mystery film that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (“Ms. Marvel”) is expected to direct, as original screenwriters Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson have left the project, as confirmed by Variety.
Knight was the creator of the hit series Peaky Blinders, which tells the story of a notorious and fearsome British gang in Birmingham during the 1910s and 1920s, led by tommy shelbythe unmistakable character played by the actor Cillian Murphy.
Knight has also worked on films such as the excellent ‘Eastern Promises’ with Vigo Mortensen and “Locke”, wt Tom Hardy.
He also participates in an FX series for the streaming platform Hulu with the actress from The Handmaid’s Tale, Elizabeth Moss. The drama will be titled “The Veil” and has been described as a “gripping thriller that explores the surprising and tense relationship between two women who navigate a deadly game of truth and lies between the cities of Istanbul, Paris and London”.
There is already speculation that Knight’s style may have the new Star Wars film a more sordid and serious story.
Waiting for the sequel to “Peaky Blinders”
Particularly known for being the mastermind behind Peaky Blinders -the Netflix series which this year had its sixth and final season-, also developed Knight See, Apple series. Also, she is working on a series on Enzo Ferrari for the company founded by Steve Jobs.
Although now with his inclusion in the Star Wars project everything seems to change in his future work, of all Knight’s future projects, the one with the film Peaky Blinders , gets all the attention.
