UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, has clarified that the CIPDH, (International Center for the Promotion of Human Rights) is a center created and dependent on the Argentine state.
It has been placed under the auspices of UNESCO because “its activities generally conform to the mandate and values of our Organization,” he said, referring to the last conference held by that center in Buenos Aires.
He adds that the center is free to organize its activities, which “are entirely under its responsibility, without seeking the advice or authorization of UNESCO. UNESCO fully respects this autonomy”.
For this he clarifies, before contrary versions, never to intervene in the program and in the invitation to the participants. UNESCO “has not commented on the topics of discussion”. He adds that the director of the regional office was present at part of the day’s debates.
