In early last month, a member with the ID of Lucca in the YouTuber Wow Mao Zone (abbreviated as wow_mao), a fan cafe of the YouTuber Wow Mao opened on the social media app Discord, posted a picture of a secret information document from the Ministry of Defense. first uploaded
Two days later, a member of a Discord cafe called Minecraft moved the document to his cafe. When he wrote “documents that someone leaked,” another member commented, “That’s cool.”
About a month later, on the 5th, an anonymous bulletin board user called ‘4chan’ spread the leaked document photos on Minecraft, immediately posted on the pro-Russian Telegram channel, and spread widely through Twitter. 4chan is a far-right anonymous bulletin board that promotes QAnon (a far-right conspiracy theory group with a tendency to support Trump) and claims conspiracy theories.
The person who posted a photo of the leaked document on Twitter under the ID of MrLucca tweeted that he had downloaded the photo from Discord’s Wow_Mao cafe.
It became widely known around the world as Twitter users saw it and spread it.
The YouTuber, who goes by the name Wow_Mao, has about 250,000 followers, and said that he is a Filipino-British, living in the UK, and a 20-year-old college student. He, who refused to give his name, emphasized in a YouTube broadcast on the 10th, “He is not very famous himself, and that is good.” He mainly broadcasts humor that pinches international issues and historical events.
YouTuber Wow_Mao revealed on his YouTube broadcast (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EN2W21AJyXI) that the number of Discord Wow_Mao fan cafe members increased from 4,000 to 7,000 after the document leak incident broke out. It sent out content urging viewers to join the donation platform Patreon.
Wow_Mao tweeted this video and said, “The CIA (US Central Intelligence Agency) must have put me on the watch list. Please pay attention to me too,” he added.
