Following the bombings targeting Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, public opinion polls showed approval ratings for the Kishida cabinet rising.

It has been seven months since September 2022 that support outpaced non-support, Yomiuri said. In this April’s opinion poll, the approval rating for the Kishida cabinet increased by 5 percentage points from the previous March survey, while negative responses saying they did not support it decreased by 6 percentage points.

Yomiuri pointed out that such a result may have had an effect on the rise in approval ratings for the Cabinet, as the incident in which explosives were thrown at the election speech hall visited by Prime Minister Kishida on the 15th during the polling period. In response before the bombing incident, the approval rating was in the early 40% range, but after the incident, it rose to 50%.
