Lack of control in the United States: two young men aged 16 and 20 are shot for having entered the wrong house

The number of gun attacks and incidents appearing to sweep across the United States since early 2023 was two new episodes this Monday they seem to reinforce the chaotic atmosphere that is transmitted through the media. A 16-year-old boy in Kansas and a 20-year-old girl in New York they were hit after getting the wrong address and appearing at the wrong house. The woman is dead. The boy survived.

An 85-year-old white man was charged on Monday by the state attorney’s office of the state of Missouri, west central, in the alleged shooting e seriously injuring a black teenager who accidentally rang the doorbell of his house.

Ralph Paul Yarl, 16, ended up in hospital after being hit twice, once in the head, Thursday night when he rang the wrong doorbell while trying to collect a his twin brothers from a friend’s house.

Outrage over the case escalated over the weekend after it was revealed the homeowner had been released without charge after 24 hours in custody.

However, on Monday, Clay County District Attorney Zachary Thompson announced that the owner, identified as 85-year-old Andrew Lester, had been charged with felony assault in the first degree and one count of armed felony, including serious felony action. His bail was set at $200,000..

The teenager’s aunt, Faith Spoonmoore, said in a GoFundMe campaign that her nephew was a bright student who dreamed of studying chemical engineering.

Missouri is among about 30 states with “Stand Your Ground”which they allow the use of lethal force in self-defensebut the prosecutor determined that the shooting had not occurred in self-defense.

Shooting in New York

In a separate incident, a woman searches for a friend’s house in upstate New York kill shot after the vehicle he was traveling in mistakenly went the wrong way e was hit, authorities reported on Monday.

Kaylin Gillis, 20, was traveling with about three friends through the rural town of Hebron on Saturday evening, when the group took a wrong turn and entered the property.

They were trying to spin the vehicle when the owner, Kevin Monhan, 65 years oldhe went on deck and fired two shots, according to Washington County Police Chief Jeffrey Murphy.

One of the shots hit Gillis.

The group traveled to the nearby city of Salem, northeast of Albany, near the Vermont border, and called 911, Murphy said, noting that the crash occurred in an area with limited cell phone service.

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and performed CPR on Gillis, but were unable to save her.

When officers arrived at the Monahan residence to investigate the shooting, the man refused to come outMurphy said, “Authorities communicated with him through a 911 operator and in person for about an hour before he was taken into custody,” the police chief said.

Monahan was arrested in the Warren County Jail on murder charges. It is not known whether he had a lawyer who could testify on his behalf.

Murphy said at a news conference Monday that Gillis, a Schuylerville resident, “was an innocent young woman who went out with her friends to look for another friend’s house,” according to the Albany-based Times Union. “There was no reason for Mr. Monahan to feel threatened.”.
