A Chinese trapeze artist died while performing a show with her partner. The 29-year-old girl fell from a height of 9 meters into the void. You worked without any protection.
The horrific incident occurred over the weekend when 37-year-old Sun Mourmou was performing with her husband, known as Zhang. In the videos you can see how Zhang takes his partner by the waist and lifts him with the help of a crane.
But at one point the acrobat lets go of the bust of his partner, who unsuccessfully tried to grab her with his feet. The sun fell from more than 9 meters high to the cheers of the audience.
According to the Global Times newspaper, the artist was rushed to hospital, where she died soon after from the serious injuries she sustained when she fell to the ground.
The said outlet added that both Sun and Zhang have worked together for nearly a decade and generally they performed without using lifelines to “look cool” in their show.
Zhang said that “we have always been happy together. As I am in the middle of the process of dealing with all of this, I cannot reveal any specific details at this time.” That was in the face of rumors that they had argued minutes before the show, according to The Mirror.
At the moment the Chinese authorities are investigating the incident which has reopened the debate on the conditions that artists maintain in this type of show.
They also revealed that the company that hired the couple did not have the necessary approval to carry out this type of act and that, for the same reason, “it will be treated accordingly”.
