A burst in the Russian border region with Ukraine of Bryansk derailed a freight train on Monday, authorities said.
The sabotage occurred when Russia fired missiles on Ukraine in its second pre-dawn attack in three days.
The local governor, Alexander Bogomaz, said an explosive device broke out along the Bryansk-Unecha line60 kilometers from Ukraine.
In the incident, which occurred at 10:17 Moscow time (04:17 Argentina time), the locomotive caught fire and seven boxcars derailedsaid Russian Railways.
The region, which borders Ukraine and Belarus, was witnesses of acts of sabotage since Russia invaded Ukraine.
The train was reportedly carrying petroleum products and timber. No injuries were reported.
“An unidentified explosive device detonated at kilometer 136 of the Bryansk-Unecha railway line, derailing a freight train,” Bogomaz said in a Telegram post.
Pictures on social media showed tank wagons overturned on its side with columns of gray smoke rising into the air.
On Saturday, Bogomaz said four people died after that Ukraine will bomb the village of Suzemkaabout seven miles (12 km) north of Russia’s border with Ukraine.
In the meantime, power lines were destroyed early Monday by a suspected explosive device in the Leningrad region of northwestern Russia, according to local governor Alexander Drozdenko.
The incident occurred near the town of Susanino, about 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of St. Petersburg, he wrote on Telegram, adding that the power supply to nearby settlements had not been cut.
“A second suspicious device has been disabled,” Drozdenko said.
Russian attack
Russia bombed several Ukrainian cities before dawn on Sunday night, in the second such attack in less than a week. At least one person died.
The attacks caused widespread damage to a logistics center in Pavlohrad, near the central city of Dnipro.
Dozens of houses were destroyed and 37 people were injured.
In general, the Ukrainian military said so shot down 15 of 18 cruise missiles who had been shot.
Shells fell on civilian homes and key infrastructure. But Moscow said the targets of the attacks were on facilities at Ukraine’s Pavlograd military-industrial complex in eastern Dnipropetrovsk district. This was stated by the Russian Defense Ministry, quoted by RIA Novosti.
“The objective of the attack has been achieved. All designated structures have been reached“, the ministry specified, underlining that “the activity of companies producing ammunition, weapons and military equipment” for the Ukrainian armed forces was stopped.
Russian troops also launched 54 attacks in the northeastern district of Sumy.
“The invaders attacked with strategic aircraft: 9 Tu-95s from the Murmansk region of Russia and 2 Tu-160s from the Caspian Sea,” said Ukrainian army commander Valery Zaluzhny.
