It is a commercial area with many high-rise office and apartment buildings, near Northside Hospital Medical in the Midtown area.
The address provided by the Atlanta Police is 1110 West Peachtree St., where the a center for urgent care and family medicine from Northside hospital. However, it is not entirely clear whether the event took place at or near that address.
According to police, there have been no further shots since the initial incident. “Officers are actively searching for the suspect and any other victims,” she said.
Three of the wounded were transported to hospital for treatment and a fourth person was pronounced dead at the scene where the event occurred, an office building belonging to a medical society.
“No suspects are in custody,” said police, who released several photos of the alleged attacker, taken by an elevator camera, in which he appears wearing a hood, mask and firearm.
The authorities believe the person she is armed and dangerous and asked anyone with information about his whereabouts to call 911.
Arriving at the scene, dozens of police vehicles and firefighters gathered along West Peachtree Street, as officers with assault rifles, helmets and vests continued to arrive more than an hour after the shooting.
