It is reported that President Yoon Seok-yeol received credentials from 11 new ambassadors to Korea on the 12th, and the Iranian ambassador who attended the event said he hoped that the relationship between the two countries would develop.

When President Yoon visited the UAE (United Arab Emirates) in January, he remarked, “The UAE is Iran,” and the Iranian government strongly protested.

According to the Office of the President, Iranian Ambassador to Korea Saeed Kuzechi said at a meeting after the credential ceremony held in the afternoon that day, Iranian Ambassador to Korea Saeed Kuzechi said, “Korea-Iran relations have been the largest in economic cooperation in the Middle East.”

At the same time, he told President Yoon, “I hope that the relationship between the two countries will develop in the future.”

At the meeting that day, President Yoon’s remarks in January were not mentioned.

However, Ambassador Kuzechi handed President Yoon a Middle Eastern-style greeting, saying that he would send special regards in the name of God and the Iranian president, and said that Iran had supported peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula, and that it had expressed its opposition to the production and use of nuclear weapons.

After his remarks, Ambassador Kuzechi said “thank you” to President Yoon in Korean. All of his impressions of being appointed as the new ambassador were spoken in English.

During the meeting, Danish Ambassador to Korea Sven Ohling mentioned President Yoon’s visit to Switzerland to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos in January.

Referring to the fact that VESTAS, the world’s No. 1 wind turbine manufacturer in Switzerland, has decided to invest 300 million dollars (approximately 370 billion won) in Korea, Ambassador Ohling said, “We will make Korea the hub (center) of East Asia.”

Vestas had announced that it would relocate its Asia-Pacific regional headquarters to Korea and make Korea a key base in the Asia-Pacific region at the investment declaration ceremony attended by President Yoon at the time.

In addition, Laotian Ambassador Songkan Luang Muninton asked President Yoon to attend the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) meeting next year, in which Laos serves as the chair.

Eleven new ambassadors from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Guatemala, Laos, Georgia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Denmark, Iran and Canada attended the ceremony.

Credentials are diplomatic documents that contain the content that the head of state of the sending country guarantees the corresponding ambassador to the receiving country. The credential issuance ceremony is a procedure in which the receiving country’s head of state receives credentials from newly arrived ambassadors.

It is said that in the conversation, each ambassador spoke in turn for one to two minutes.
