On the afternoon of the 15th, President Yoon Seok-yeol met with a Japanese delegation visiting Korea to attend a Korea-Japan businessmen’s meeting and said, “As the two countries are discussing concrete ways to cooperate in a wide range of fields, such as economy, industry, science, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, I hope business people will also promote cooperation with a sense of speed,” he said on the 15th.

Spokesman Lee Do-woon of the President’s Office said in a written briefing that President Yoon made such a request, saying, “It took 12 years for Korea-Japan shuttle diplomacy to be restored, but it took less than two months for the heads of state of the two countries to come and go.”

In addition, President Yoon said, “Since mutually complementary cooperation is possible between Korean companies with outstanding manufacturing technology and Japanese companies with strong competitiveness in materials and equipment, companies from both countries will work together to build a stable supply chain in high-tech industries such as semiconductors, batteries, and electric vehicles.” I look forward to doing it,” he said.

President Yoon continued, “At the G7 summit to be held in Hiroshima this weekend, Korea and Japan will further materialize cooperation on global issues such as health, global supply chain, and climate change. We expect that we will be able to present a new vision in terms of creating business opportunities, solving global problems, and contributing to economic growth in developing countries by jointly responding to and advancing into third countries together.”

President Yoon said, “The exchange and participation of future generations is more important than anything else.” he asked.

In response, Chairman Sasaki replied, “The cases of exchange and cooperation between the two countries are increasing significantly.” In addition, Chairman Sasaki emphasized that “if Korea and Japan cooperate, it can be 3 or 4 instead of 1+1=2.”
