An Australian woman posted a video of her treatment on the short-form video platform TikTok, claiming to have been diagnosed with three types of skin cancer in 2009. This woman, she regretted, said that if she ever went back to her teens, she would consistently apply her sunscreen to take care of her skin.

According to the New York Post on the 13th (local time), 48-year-old Australian woman Melissa Lewis revealed her red, blistered skin after receiving treatment for skin cancer, saying, “This is the real face of a person with skin cancer.” The skin cancers he suffered from were melanoma, which spreads rapidly and darkens the skin, Bowen’s disease, an early form of squamous cell carcinoma, and ‘basal cell carcinoma’.

Lewis has been receiving carbon dioxide laser photodynamic therapy treatment, a type of photodynamic therapy (PDT), every year since 2009 for the treatment of skin cancer. Carbon dioxide laser photodynamic therapy is one of the treatments for skin cancer that selectively destroys photosensitive substances after injecting them into the skin.

In the video released by this woman, photodynamic therapy treatment showed that the area around her eyes was swollen and unable to open her eyes properly. Having poor eyesight, he managed to put a soft cloth on the base of her glasses to put on her glasses.

Louise, a mother of four, recalled spending hours in the sun tanning herself as a young teenager or in her twenties to give her skin an attractive tan.

In addition to the three types of skin cancer, Lewis also suffered from ‘skin lesions’, such as abnormal spots or pimples due to changes in skin tissues and body fluids.

He said, “Everyone watching this video should protect their skin by themselves,” and regretted, “If we had known about the dangers of sunlight 30 years ago, this wouldn’t have happened.”

He added, “If I could meet my past self, I would like to say, ‘I can enjoy tinting at this moment, but I will definitely pay the price in the future.'”

The video, which was first uploaded in February, caught the attention of netizens around the world and recorded 2.7 million views.

Netizens responded, “It’s fortunate that I ignored the advice of a friend who recommended tanning because my skin was white when I was in school,” “Don’t go around as much as possible during the day when the sunlight is at its peak,” and “It’s a heartbreaking story.”
