Colombian authorities The four children who disappeared in a plane crash have been found alive occurred in the jungles of southern Colombia 17 days ago in a plane on which they were traveling with three other adults, whose bodies were found lifeless.
The children found are Lesly Jacobombaire Mucutuy, 13; Soleiny Jacobombaire Mucutuy, 9 years old; Tien Noriel Ronoque Mucutuy, 4 years old, and Cristin Neriman Ranoque Mucutuy, 11 months old.
President Gustavo Petro confirmed the news through his social networks. According to what he said, the children were found safe thanks to the work of the armed forces.
Last Monday the aircraft was in a rural area of the Palma Rosa hamlet, which is part of the municipality of Solano (Caquetá), with three of its occupants deceased.
The area where the incident occurred is a dense and rainy area which makes it more difficult for the search work carried out by more than 100 members of the Military Forces, together with 3 trained search and track dogs, as well as the indigenous people of the region All supported by helicopters.
The clues
In a joint statement, the Civil Aeronautics (Aerocivil) and the Army have reported that in the last few hours and thanks to the guidance of the dog Ulises, “the Special Forces they located what would have been a shelter built in an improvised way with sticks and branches”.
The information states that they also found “scissors and some ‘bows’ that women usually use to keep their hair” and even pieces of fruit that allegedly could be consumed by children.
All this, says the Aerocivil, continues”filled with encouragement and hope” since it is “a new indication to guide them in the search and rescue operations of the plane that crashed 17 days ago, and which show the strength of these minors to survive despite the tragedy and in the middle of the jungle”.
First, in another place, a dog that is part of the quest found a bottlewhich is assumed to have been used to feed the baby.
Aerocivil believed at the time that “the hope of finding the three children and the newborn alive” remained intact.
The plane was found upside down indicating the crew may have attempted an emergency landing on gigantic trees with huge roots.
Research
Three helicopters participated in the search, one of which was equipped with a powerful loudspeaker, capable of covering an area of about 1,500 meters, which transmitted messages in the Huitoto language, recorded by the grandmother of the minors.
In those messages, the grandmother told the children try to stay in one place so that those who seek them have a better chance of finding them.
“Lesly, I ask you a favor, that I am your grandmother Fatima. You must shut up because the army is looking for you for your sake. Daughter, thank you for shutting up. If you hear microphones, daughter, stay there for them to find and bring her“, says the audio, according to El Tiempo newspaper.
The aircraft, operated by the Avianline Charter company, was flying between Araracuara, a remote town located on the border between the departments of Caquetá and Amazonas, and San José del Guaviare, when the emergency was declared.
From that moment a search and rescue plan was triggered which continues in the hope of finding the children.
