Nicolás Maduro’s turn: he is now calling for private investment to recover production in companies in Venezuela

In a turning point marked by the serious economic crisis of his country, the president of Venezuela, Niccolo Madurohe invited the private sector of the economy to invest in “mutual aid agreements” to bring up to 100% the production of national companies recovered from the so-called Workers’ Productive Councils (CPT).

“We call on the country’s private sector, the businessman, the banks, the financial sector to come and invest in mutually beneficial arrangements, so they can see how we will teach them a productive lesson to generate resources, goods and wealth for the country,” Maduro said on Thursday during a working day broadcast by state-run VTV.

“We must guarantee public and private investments, the order has been given (…) Guarantee, obtain all investments to put all companies in the hands of the productive CPT, recovered from the working class,” the president said during the visit to a rubber manufacturing company in Carabobo, in the center of the country.

The Head of State has given this instruction to both the workers and the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, and the Ministers of Industry and Labour, Hipólito Abreu and Francisco Torrealba, respectively.

He recalled the “extraordinary relations” that, he assured, his government has built in recent years with the Venezuelan private sector, and asked to identify new investors in this group.

Furthermore, he insisted on the need for all public companies to produce at 100% of their capacity, in order to decrease imports and guaranteeing investments, “in the midst of the daily work due to sanctions, economic and financial persecution” which, he insisted, Venezuela is experiencing.

On Wednesday, the state oil company PDVSA reported the implementation of a plan to increase production of a crude oil upgrade of the Petrocedeño project, a subsidiary of the Venezuelan Petroleum Corporation (CVP), located in the state of Anzoátegui (east).

The head of state said that none of the 2,400 CTPs that exist in the country cannot “be elitist, far from basic workers, they must be deeply democratic, efficient”, with a leading role in producing more and more to replace imports , save foreign exchange and meet people’s growing needs.

“I call on the working class wherever the CTP is false to make a working class rebellion against bureaucratism and elitism,” he demanded.

During the activity, Maduro inaugurated the National Experimental University of Electrical Specialties (UNEXEE), located in Gurí, in the state of Bolívar, in southern Venezuela.

In the same week, Maduro reiterated his call for international energy entrepreneurs to invest in the country, which has one of the “largest” gas reserves in the world, to supply this resource to all of Europe.

At the same time, the government of Caracas reiterated this Thursday its rejection of “unilateral coercive measures” -as it calls international sanctions- against the country, during its participation in the recent meeting of the Unesco Executive Council, through its representative before to this organization , Rodulfo Pérez, reported this Thursday the Executive.

The official denounced “the blockade” and the “unilateral and criminal coercive measures against the Venezuelan people”, while calling for “respect for the United Nations Charter”, according to a statement from the Presidency’s press group.

“For peace to exist, there must be respect for the sovereignty of peoples, for the highest values ​​of society”, said Pérez, quoted in the text.

He stressed that, despite the blockade, the country has made progress, through the implementation of public policies, in terms of “social inclusion, which guarantee education, science and culture”.
