Graduates of the top 10 most popular bachelor’s majors in the liberal arts department earned an average of more than 40,000 dollars (approximately 52.8 million won) a year. Of these, business, nursing, and accounting majors recorded an annual income of more than $50,000. Psychology, media communications, and health earn similarly to average earnings, with education-related majors earning the lowest salaries.

On average, the highest-paying bachelor’s degrees were concentrated in STEM and science majors, which are science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The major with the highest average annual salary was OR (Opreation Research), with majors earning an average of $112,097 (approximately 148 million won). OR is a discipline that comprehensively utilizes mathematical modeling, statistics, and computer science. It is a discipline that is used in various fields such as production process optimization, business strategy establishment, and investment, but it is currently a rare major in Korea.

It was followed by marine engineering majors (average $109,121, about 144 million won), followed by computer science graduates, a major popular among students in Korea, with the third highest average annual income of $105,000 (about 100 million won). 38.6 million). Marine transportation (average $104,799, about 138.2 million won) followed closely behind computer science majors, and computer science earned an average annual income of $99,063 (about 130.8 million won).

“We hope our data will continue to help those considering college,” Michael Itskowitz, founder of the Higher Education Advisory Group, who served as a Department of Education official during the Obama administration, tweeted. “It’s important that students leave knowing that wherever they apply and whatever major they choose to pursue, they will be worth it,” he added.
