“First meeting in London in 2010… “Getting closer to 2020”

Specific circumstances surrounding the affair rumors were reported, including the birth of a child out of wedlock between China’s former Foreign Minister Qin Gang (57), who was suddenly dismissed in July, and his mistress, through an American surrogate mother.

On the 26th, the Financial Times (FT) reported this, citing six sources.

Prior to this, claims were made that the reason former Director Qin was removed from office was because he had an affair with Hong Kong Phoenix TV anchor Fu Xiaotian (40) and gave birth to a child out of wedlock.

“Last year, Ms. Fu told a close colleague about her surrogate pregnancy,” the anonymous source said.

Sources said, “Chinese authorities are currently investigating the relationship between former Director Qin and Mr. Fu.”

In China, giving birth through surrogacy is illegal.

The FT reported, “However, it is unclear how much of an impact this issue (surrogacy birth) had on former Director Chin’s dismissal.”

A close associate of Mr. Fu said, “Mr. Fu first met Qin Kang around 2010 when he received a master’s degree from Cambridge University in England and was hired as a correspondent for Hong Kong’s Phoenix TV London bureau. At that time, Qin Kang was stationed in the UK as an acting ambassador.”

According to close associates, the relationship between the two became closer in Beijing around 2020, about 10 years later.

Qin Gang was appointed as China’s ambassador to the United States in September 2021 and went to the United States with his wife, Lin Ann.

Sources familiar with the situation claimed, “Qin Gang has been refraining from contact with Mr. Fu since late last year when he was appointed as Minister of Foreign Affairs, and this (refraining from contact) led Mr. Fu to imply a relationship between himself and Qin Gang through social media.” .

Mr. Fu posted a photo of his son on social media and said, “My father is not American.”

Last March, when Qin Gang was elected as a member of the State Council at the National People’s Congress, Mr. Fu posted a picture of his son on Weibo saying, “Victory opening.”

Then, on March 19, he posted a photo of his son on Weibo along with the caption, “Dad is so busy with work, we don’t even have time to spend our birthdays together. “We have no choice but to celebrate Dad’s birthday from afar,” he wrote. Qin Gang’s birthday is March 19th.

Mr Fu stopped posting on social media in April and stopped responding to social media messages in June, the last time Mr Chin was seen in public.

A close associate of Mr. Fu said, “Currently, Mr. Fu’s phone number has been deleted, and he cannot be contacted even through messaging applications.” He added, “There has been no further contact with Mr. Fu since June.”

After Qin Gang was dismissed on July 25, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs removed all information related to him from its website. However, a few days later, the deleted photos and remarks were re-posted on the website.

Qin Gang, who was once favored by President Xi Jinping and was promoted quickly, was kicked out of his position as Foreign Minister, but retains his position as a member of the State Council.

Accordingly, there is also the possibility that Qingang may return to the political stage.
