Russia said arms shipments to Ukraine “threatening European security”, following a new request by British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss to send more heavy weapons and aircraft to Kiev.
The tendency to fill Ukraine with weapons, especially heavy weapons, is an act that threatens the security of the continent and causes instability. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov
Russia also warned of a harsh military response to any new attack on Russian soil, and accused the United States and its key European allies of openly inciting Ukraine to attack Russia.
The head of British diplomacy called for increased shipments of heavy weapons and aircraft to Ukraine, emphasizing that the time has come for “courage” against Russia, which has been conducting a military operation in Ukraine since February 24.
“Heavy weapons, tanks, planes, we have to dig up our stocks, speed up production, we have to do all that,” Truss said.
Yesterday, Russia had already announced that it had destroyed a “large amount” of weapons delivered to Ukraine by Western countries. Entering its third month, the conflict is increasingly intensifying in eastern and southern Ukraine, where Russia is currently focusing its military efforts.
After more than two months of war, Western powers are less hesitant to support Ukraine with weapons to resist Moscow’s attacks.
Just hours after Russia’s warning of the “real” risk of a new world war, the US government gathered representatives from about 40 allied countries at its military base in Ramstein, Germany.
“Ukraine has the right to defend itself”
