According to CNN and others on the 11th (local time), the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are continuing fierce fighting surrounding Al-Shifa Hospital.

Inside the hospital, operations are virtually paralyzed and deaths, including newborns, are occurring.

The Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip’s Health Ministry reported that hospital operations were halted due to continued Israeli shelling, which resulted in the death of three babies in the neonatal ward.

A Health Ministry official told CNN that 36 babies in the neonatal ward currently require manual artificial respiration, and that the hospital is surrounded on all sides by Israeli troops.

He added that 400 people are being treated at the hospital, and about 20,000 refugees are estimated to be taking refuge in the hospital complex.

Ashraf al-Qudra, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, said the al-Shifa hospital complex was left without even a small generator, its last lifeline, and that the only way to save the injured was to use primitive methods.

There were also claims that Israeli troops were also shooting civilians.

Al-Qudra spokesman said, “At the main entrance of the hospital, the wounded and dead are lying on the floor,” and “Israeli forces are targeting everything that moves in the hospital courtyard.”

According to the Associated Press, Hospital Director Mohammed Abu Selmia also said, “Electricity and medical equipment stopped,” and “Patients, especially those in the intensive care unit, began to die.”

At the same time, he said, “Israeli forces are shooting at everyone inside and outside the hospital,” and they also blocked movement between buildings within the hospital.

Through the social media “We once again urge the protection of patients.”
