According to the RIA Novosti news agency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that from the 1st to 9 p.m. on this day, 2,061,772 inquiries were received in advance from citizens.

In particular, he said that the most inquiries were about “special military operations (Russia’s invasion of Ukraine) and the international situation,” and predicted that President Putin would comment on these.

Spokesperson Peskov said, “President Putin focused on the questions sent by the Russian people and what they were interested in,” adding, “President Putin had very intense meetings with his aides, ministers of related ministries, and heads of agencies for each agenda over the past two days.” reported.

Others called the hotline simply to express their support for President Putin, Peskov added. He emphasized, “The Russian people have shown remarkable unity around President Putin’s ideas and his candidacy for next year’s presidential election.”

President Putin will hold a year-end press conference in Moscow on the 14th. It is a large-scale annual event attended by hundreds of domestic and foreign reporters, and is also called a marathon conference as it lasts for several hours. It has been held every year since 2001, but was canceled for the first time in 10 years at the end of last year, the first year of the invasion of Ukraine. The last ‘direct call’ on June 30, 2021 lasted 3 hours and 40 minutes, and the year-end press conference on December 23 of that year lasted about 4 hours.

According to RIA Novosti, this year it will be held in a format that combines a large-scale press conference and a direct phone call (Q&A). It is said that the interview will be held by President Putin himself, and the Q&A will be hosted by journalists from Channel 1 and Russia 1. In addition, the Kremlin explained that not only domestic media but also journalists from friendly and non-friendly countries will attend.

“(The year-end press conference) is always a long and meaningful event with a special character,” Peskov said.

President Putin will run for a fifth term in the Russian presidential election, which will be held from March 15 to 17 next year. Initially, there was a prospect that his candidacy could be announced at this press conference, but prior to this, his candidacy was made official on the 8th.
