Oprah Winfrey, a famous American broadcaster who became a hot topic after losing 40 kg, revealed that she is taking obesity medication. Previously, Winfrey revealed that she dieted through exercise without taking any medication to help with weight loss.
In an interview with the American magazine ‘People’ published on the 13th (local time), Winfrey said, “The fact that I have a medically approved prescription to manage my weight and stay healthy feels like a relief, a salvation, a gift to me,” and said, “I feel like a relief, a salvation, a gift.” He admitted to using drugs for harm.
Winfrey has been steadily losing weight over the past two years following knee surgery in 2021. “I’ve been hiking since my knee surgery, and I’m setting a goal of a different distance each week,” he said. “I’m hiking about 5 to 8 kilometers during the week and about 16 kilometers on the weekends. “After 4 p.m., he doesn’t eat anything and drinks a lot of water,” he said, adding that he is trying to manage his weight.
Winfrey, who said at the time that she was not taking obesity medication to lose weight, came to enlightenment through a conversation with an audience member while recording her show ‘Oprah Daily’. He said, “I had been blaming myself for being overweight, and I realized that I had a temperament that I could not control through willpower alone.”
Afterwards, he visited a doctor and was prescribed obesity medication, and “now I take medication as needed to manage the yo-yo phenomenon (returning to pre-diet weight),” he added.
However, Winfrey did not reveal the type of obesity medication she was taking.
“I knew about weight loss drugs, but I felt the need to prove my commitment to losing weight,” Winfrey said in an interview. “I no longer feel that way.”
He continued, “Obesity is a disease, not a matter of will. “This is about the brain,” he emphasized.
Winfrey’s target weight is 72 kg, with about 3 kg still left. However, he said, “Numbers are not important,” and “I am satisfied with the progress I have made over the past two years through my efforts in exercise and diet. “I think this is my second chance to live a more vibrant life in the future.”
