Spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Commerce: “We must stop putting too much pressure on Chinese companies.”
When the United States moved to impose additional export controls on Chinese companies, the Chinese government protested, saying, “It is interfering with normal economic and trade activities.”
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce said in a Q&A under the name of a spokesperson published on its website on the 21st, “China is monitoring the relevant situation.”
The spokesperson criticized, “The United States’ actions ignore the facts of cooperation between both sides and damage the basis for cooperation,” adding, “It disrupts the normal economic and trade activities of companies and destroys market rules and the international economic and trade order.”
He continued, “China resolutely opposes this, and the United States must immediately stop putting undue pressure on Chinese companies.” He also emphasized, “We will resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.”
Previously, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced on the 19th (local time) that it would add some Chinese companies to the ‘unverified list’, which is the pre-export control stage, for national security reasons. There are 13 Chinese companies on the list, including PNC Systems, Shengbo Xietong, Xinwei Transportation, and Plexus.
The unverified list refers to a list of subjects subject to stricter export controls on the grounds that the U.S. authorities are unable to conduct routine inspections and therefore cannot accurately identify the final consumer. This is the previous step on the export control list.
Companies on the non-verified list can be removed from the list if they provide the U.S. government with more detailed information about the end users of their products during the 60-day verification process. Conversely, if you fail to provide information, you will be placed on the export control list.
