Trump never participates in TV debates
DeSantis, Haley: “It’s time for Trump to reveal himself”

The US political media Politico reported on the 2nd (local time) that former US President Donald Trump will appear in a town hall conversation hosted by Fox News next week. He will not participate in the CNN Republican presidential primary TV debate taking place at the same time.

According to reports, the town hall conversation will begin at 9 PM, prime time, on the 10th in Des Moines, Iowa, the first Republican presidential primary site. The Iowa caucuses will be held on the 15th.

The only three candidates eligible to participate in the CNN TV debate are former President Trump, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley. DeSantis and Haley have already indicated that they will attend the debate.

Eight people appeared in the first Republican primary TV debate held in August last year, but as the participation criteria became more stringent, only three remained.

Governor DeSantis and former Ambassador Haley urged former President Trump to attend the televised debate.

Former Ambassador Haley said in a statement, “With only three candidates qualified, it is time for Donald Trump to emerge. As the debate stage shrinks, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Donald Trump to hide.”

DeSantis campaign spokesman Andrew Romeo also said in a statement, “Why didn’t Trump build a wall, why did he increase the debt by $8 trillion, and why did he entrust the country to (Anthony) Fauci (former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID))? “I would be afraid to go on stage because I would have to explain why I entrusted it to him,” he said. “We agree to install seats to make Trump feel more comfortable during the debate.”

Former President Trump has never participated in a Republican presidential primary TV debate.

He also plans to skip a televised debate scheduled to be held in New Hampshire later this month, a campaign official said.

Former President Trump recently said in a radio interview with conservative journalist Hugh Hewitt that he would consider participating in a TV debate if his approval rating gap with other candidates narrows significantly. He has an overwhelming lead in various opinion polls.
