After many judicial twists and turns, Peru’s Supreme Court finally ratified the four-and-a-half-year prison sentence against the former lawmaker on Tuesday. “I hope that Peruvian society does not forget the sacrifice for democracy made by a group of deputies defenestrated by the Fuerza Popular and we did it for Peru”, declared Bocángel referring to the expulsion suffered by ten deputies of the Fujimori alliance for having voted against Kuczynski’s first impeachment attempt.
Finally, Kuczynski resigned from the presidency of Peru in 2018 amid allegations of alleged corruption linked to Odebrecht, and the pardon granted to Fujimori was annulled for irregularities, until the Constitutional Court reinstated him last December and ordered the release of former president.
