Swift’s lawyer: “We will pursue all legal countermeasures”
Popular pop singer Taylor Swift announced that she would take legal action against Jack Sweeney, 21, a college student who was running a social media account that was tracking her private jet.
On the 6th (local time), the Washington Post reported that Swift’s lawyer sent a letter in December last year requesting the stalking to be stopped, saying, “If you do not stop the stalking, we will take all legal measures.”

The greenhouse gas emissions of private jets were also estimated. This is because private jets are believed to have a negative impact on climate change by emitting greenhouse gases. It was revealed that he used data released by the Federal Aviation Administration and broadcast signals from those who track aircraft as a hobby.
Swift’s attorney, Katie Wright Morone, wrote in a letter to Sweeney’s parents that Swift and her family had suffered “irreparable harm” and that they were “in fear for their lives.”
He added, “It may be a game and an opportunity to gain wealth and fame, but for the client, it is a matter of life and death.”
Sweeney told The Washington Post that he thought the letter he received was an attempt to scare people into not sharing public data. He countered that the account only provides which city Swift is in and is similar to a public schedule of concerts or NFL games.
He also said he received this letter around the time Swift became the target of criticism over greenhouse gas emissions from private jets.
Private jet flying was recently criticized for having a “disproportionately high” impact on climate change.
Sweeney’s account has often been used to criticize celebrities regarding private jets.
In 2022, Swift was cited as the “most famous (carbon dioxide) polluter” of that year.
X’s owner, Elon Musk, was also the target of Sweeney’s pursuit.
Musk suspended Sweeney’s account in 2022, saying he had taken “assassination coordinates” by sharing the location of his private plane.
