The Pope thus responds to the criticism he has received from sectors of the Church for the document prepared by the Doctrine of the Faith that Francis signed and which authorizes the blessing of homosexual couples.

The document highlights this short and non-ritual blessings they are allowed to irregular couples and to homosexuals among them, but these are blessings I am “for the people and not for the union”. They have nothing to do with liturgical blessings.

The African Church reacted “in totu” to the opening provision: 781 bishops of Africa declared the “non possumus” against the law, refusing to apply it.

War, another concern

On the other hand, after the general audience on Wednesday, the Pope urged once again “not to forget the wars, as in the tormented Ukraine, in Palestine and Israel and many other wars that exist everywhere”.

“We pray for peace. War is always a defeat, Always. “We need peace.”

Considerations on sadness

The Pope, in the catecheses he holds in every general audience, spoke once again about vices and virtues. He warned of the sadness that, when it lasts, “becomes a subtle demon, a disease of the soul.”

“The sadness It is the pleasure of non-pleasure, it’s like taking a bittersweet and sucking it. “Certain prolonged mourning, in which a person continues to expand the void of someone who is no longer there, are not typical of a departure in spirit.”

“Francisco underlined that a certain bitterness of resentment, for which one always has in mind a claim that makes him assume the role of victim, does not produce a healthy life in us, much less a Christian one”, he explained.

You have to be careful with this sadness and to think that Jesus brings us the joy of the Resurrection”, concluded the Argentine Pope.
