A shooting occurred during the National Football League (NFL) Super Bowl victory celebration parade in Kansas City, Missouri, USA, killing at least one person and injuring more than 20 others.
At around 2 p.m. on the 14th (local time), the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) announced on social media, “A shooting occurred on the west side of Union Station, near the parking lot, and several people were shot,” and “Please leave the area.”
KCPD emphasized, “To ensure smooth treatment of the shooting victim, we ask anyone near this area to leave the scene as quickly and safely as possible.”
According to the Associated Press, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said at a press conference that 22 people were shot and one of them has now died.
The Kansas City Fire Department reported that eight of the injured were in critical condition, seven in serious condition and six in minor injury. The victims were taken to a nearby hospital and are being treated.
After the incident occurred, police arrested three armed suspects nearby and are investigating the motive for the crime.
