Donald Trump has finally agreed to pay a much smaller fine in a civil fraud case

In the end, Donald Trump managed to avoid paying the whopping sum of over $457 million owed in his lawsuit. civil commercial fraudwhose payment date expired today.

A New York appeals court on Monday allowed the former president to post much lower bail than originally set in a civil fraud case. The former president now he will have to pay a bail of 175 million dollars within 10 dayswhile the appeal for the sentence that imposed a fine of 457 million dollars is underway, even while challenging the sentence that generated the gigantic debt.

This is a major lifeline for the former president, who, along with some of his children and his company, was fined after Judge Arthur Engoron noted that Trump and the other defendants they fraudulently inflated the value of their assets

After the state attorney general, Letizia Giacomowon the ruling, he made no attempt to enforce it during the legal waiting period for Trump to ask an appeals court for a stay of payment.

The period for full payment expired this Monday and one possibility was that the state Attorney General, Letitia James, would decide it give Trump more time.

James, a Democrat, told ABC News last month If Trump doesn’t have the money to payhe would have tried confiscate your assets and was “ready to ensure that the judgment be paid”.

James did not then detail the process or specify what actions he was referring to.

Trump, while addressing a separate audience Monday morning in his criminal proceedings of hush money from a porn actress, criticized in social media posts the civil sentence and the possibility of James trying to impose it.

Presenting the case as a democratic conspiracythe former president claimed they were trying to take his money to starve his 2024 campaign.
