A heinous crime occurred on Monday in Soto de Ribera, Spain. A 46 year old man He killed her father, cut off his head and started playing football with her in a roundabout.
As reported by local media, such as El Periodio, El País or La Nueva España, the killer first attacked his father with a knife and, since he could not kill him, finished him off with an ax blow. It was in his house in the village of El Picón.
The victim, identified as “MM”, had managed to leave the house after the first stab wounds, but when he asked a couple of neighbors for help, they did not open the door.
After cutting off his head, the killer, who was half-naked and incessantly singing the Francoist anthem, began playing with it and flirting with the drivers who were walking in one of the streets near the crime scene.
MM’s body was found on the ground of a road by the family’s neighbors. “They knocked on our door and we started hearing noises. “We saw someone lying on the ground, but we didn’t know who he was and we called the Civil Guard,” a neighbor told El País.
The head remained in the hands of the attacker for a while longer, as he, after having committed the parricide, attacked anyone who passed through a nearby roundabout with his ax and even with the head itself.
“He stood in front of me and hit my head. He came with his head in his hands and laughing too. When I passed I turned and saw him playing catch with his head. He must have jumped on multiple people. A few cars passed later with their windows blown out,” Arancha Lombas, a witness, told the newspaper La Nueva España.
Another driver said the killer “literally jumped into the car.” A third claimed that the man “was singing ‘Cara al Sol’ at the top of his lungs” and that when he saw him “he sped up to throw him into the street”.
“The madman at the Soto de Ribera roundabout killed someone. There’s a head in the driveway of an elderly fellow countryman, and a bloodied, shirtless man has jumped onto the roof of my car. The Guardia Civil arrived and threw him to the ground, but there is a head in the rotunda, it’s as if he had cut the mouth of a person,” said another of those hit.
Eventually, the man was stopped by agents of the Spanish Civil Guard and admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
Those who knew MM described him as “a very good person”. The mayor of the town, in fact, said that he was “a very kind person” and that he had spoken to him a few days ago.
The man, believed to be two years older, had lived in the town for around 50 years. His son, however, was described as a “strange” man who sometimes said hello and sometimes didn’t.
Regarding the killer, a source told El Comercio that he was “a very good guy” and that “something must have hit him in the head.”
Similarly, other witnesses said they never heard arguments between father and son in El Picón. “There was never a cry heard, nor a word louder than another.”
The inmate worked seasonally on a dairy farm in the area where he lived and the victim was retired after working as a hospital orderly.
