What’s so special about the Superman comic book that sold for $6 million

From Thursday there is a new God in the Olympus of comics. The auction house Heritage auctions sold one of superman TO 6 million dollarsmaking it the most expensive ever sold at auction.

An anonymous buyer purchased a copy of the file Action Comics No. 1 in a four-day comics auction where hard-to-find copies were offered. As of Sunday, the event had raised more than $28 million.

The amount for which Action Comics #1 was sold was more than the record holder paid. That buyer had purchased another copy of Superman, Superman #1, for 5.3 million dollars.

Why is the world’s most expensive Superman comic special?

Because that’s a 1938 copy introduced Superman to the world for the first time. Lois Lane, the female protagonist of superhero stories, also makes her debut in the section dedicated to the character.

The auction house says it’s the comic”most important ever published” and points out that the version of Superman that appeared then is very similar to the current one.

According to a report by comics rating service, Certified Guaranty Company (CBC), only about 100 of the 200,000 copies of Action Comics #1 remain.

What is Action Comics #1 about?

The Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster It gave rise to a universe that today seems inexhaustible: that of superheroes.

Action Comics #1 is an anthology containing the story of the most famous alien.

In the “The Superman” section, the authors develop the basis of the character: they explain that he is a child with powers born on the planet Krypton who, faced with the imminent explosion of that planet, is sent to Earth by his father. Once there he becomes Superman.

The comic was published in April 1938 by National Allied Publications in the United States. That company will be part of DC Comics in the future.
