A symbolic vote

This vote should be largely symbolic. The majority of Democrats there are too narrow to allow them to adopt such a text: they will need a majority to rise by 60 votes to 100.

The only other option currently available to abortion rights advocates is to change Senate policies to pass such legislation by a simple majority. But Republicans and some elected officials from Joe Biden’s camp are opposed to this situation at the moment.

Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, despite everything, has vowed to fight to keep the right to abortion guaranteed, promising that Don’t let go.

This is the biggest battle of a generation. We will be half citizens according to this decision. And if it becomes law, it will change the foundation of America.

Republican -elect Nancy Mace, who opposes abortion, has sought an exception in the event of rape.

Explained that she herself was raped, Nancy Mace told CBS that provided the physical, emotional traumathis decision must be made by the woman concerned, his doctor at God.

If the Supreme Court overturns the case law that has established the right to abortion since 1973, each state will be free to prohibit or allow abortion. Half of them, mainly conservative and religious South and Central, are expected to take this route.

Mississippi (south) will ban it, except in cases of rape or danger to the mother’s life, Republican Governor Tate Reeves confirmed to NBC.

Thinking of the next steps, he said pro life movementas the opponents of abortion call themselves, must now prove not not just anti-abortionhelping expectant mothers and young children.

About 61% of Americans think abortion should be legal, according to a poll published by a research institute Pew this Sunday.

But, like so many other social issues, the gap between Democrats and Republicans is wide, and even wider than 15 years ago. Of the former, 8 out of 10 people are for it, almost double the number than the latter.
