Twitter permanently suspended Trump’s account after the attack on the Capitol on January 6 last year because of the danger posed by his comments, which were considered an “incitement to violence”.
At the time, Twitter explained in a statement that the platform “exists for the public to hear directly from elected officials and world leaders.”
