Pope Francis went public in a wheelchair this Monday (9) at the Vatican due to walking difficulties caused by chronic pain in his right knee.
Pushed by an aide, the Pope came to a meeting with the heads of the Roman Curia’s religious foundries, as well as an audience of students and professors at the University of Macerata in central Italy.
Persistent pain in his right knee as a result of a ligament injury that caused the Pope to leak last week has forced the Vatican to cancel or change several appointments on the Catholic leader’s agenda.
There are also rumors that Francis may delay his trip to Lebanon, scheduled for June, due to walking difficulties.
Jorge Bergoglio has planned visits to the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan and Canada in July.
