Iran: a Revolutionary Guard colonel was shot at the door of his house

A crown of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard was killed this Sunday along with five shots to the head at the door of his house in the center of Tehran, reportedly the Islamic republic’s elite military body.

The colonel Sayyad Khodei He received five bullets to the head while he was in his car at the door of his house in the heart of Iran’s capital, according to a statement released by the military body.

The report also detailed the murder was killed by two people They got on a motorcycle and fled.

According to Iranian media reports, local security forces are searching for the motorcyclists, although it cannot be confirmed if they have been identified.

Khodaei fought in Syria as part of the Quds Force, the body responsible for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps ’operations on foreign soil.

A few hours before the announcement of the soldier’s death, the Guard reported dismantling a spy network of the “Zionist regime”which refers to Israel.

No group has claimed responsibility for the killings, nor have the Iranian authorities claimed responsibility for the killings, but in recent years Iran has accused Israel of committing the killings against members of its security forces and nuclear scientists, and attempts to sabotage Iran’s facilities.

These accusations also spread beyond its borders.

In March, Tehran accused Israel of killing two revolutionary guards near Damascus and days later, in retaliation, bombed an alleged “Zionist conspiracy” center in Erbil, northern Iraq.

Founded by Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard it is a military force composed of ground, naval and aviation troops, parallel to the regular military structure. In addition, it holds exclusive control of Iran’s strategic missile and rocket forces.

The formation is intended to protect the political system of the country’s Islamic republic, preventing both foreign intervention and possible traditional military coups. It has some 125,000 troops and also controls the Basij volunteer militia.

Within the Revolutionary Guards, the Quds Force is a special operations unit, dedicated to unconventional warfare and intelligence. Most of its operations are extraterritorial, and it is responsible for training and funding terrorist groups such as Hezbollah or Hamas.

The Revolutionary Guard is listed as terrorist organization of several countries, including the United States.
