Reopening the US border with Gretna

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure said Provincial Route 10 is reopened to traffic, in between Swan River at The Pas.

It is an important trade corridor that also connects southern and northern Manitoba, such as Provincial Highway 6.

Bridges crossing rivers pine, steep rock atBell Rivers was closed on May 14, after massive flooding in the area Parkland. Local contractors were tasked to repair the damage to the infrastructure, which took place between May 17 and 21.

The dam on the U.S. border was removed on May 20 as the waters of the Pembina River receded. To this end, provincial road 30 and the entry point to Gretna will be re -accessible by drivers. Travelers can also enter the United States from the port of entry at Neche.

Warnings are still in effect on these parts of the highways, as they have experienced damage due to flooding.

So far, 41 communities have declared a state of emergency in Manitoba due to flooding.
