Dozens of people were injured in a rail collision between a locomotive and a stopped passenger train in Slovakia on Friday, local police said.

Zilina regional police spokesperson Gabriela Kremenova told AFP on Saturday that the accident occurred on the Vrutky-Varin line in the Zilina district, about 220 kilometers north of Bratislava.

“Rescuers treated 74 people. Four of them in serious condition were hospitalized,” Kremenova said. said.

Property damage is estimated at 2 million euros (approximately $2.14 million).
