According to various media outlets from the United States, Republican politician Ryan Kelley, one of five party representatives seeking to run for governor of Michigan, was arrested this Thursday (9) for instigating and participating in the January 6, 2021 raid on the capital.

The charges include “disorganized or disturbing” conduct, “knowingly staying in a restricted area without legal authorization” and willful injury and looting of US property.

Kelley is expected to appear in court this Thursday, according to the Detroit News.

According to a video obtained by US media, the 40-year-old politician is provoking the invaders in the Capitol building, shouting for everyone to come in and saying “this is a war”.

In footage recently obtained by authorities, it is still possible to see one of the stairs leading to restricted areas, forcing Kelley with several others to enter a cordon created by agents and summoning other occupants to the scene.

Since his name was mentioned as one of hundreds of invaders, the politician did not answer whether he had invaded Washington, saying that he was in Washington that day.

Hundreds of people are responsible for the invasion of the Capitol, and even former President Donald Trump and some of his closest allies are being investigated for the incident that resulted in the deaths of five people.

Protesters stormed the hall after Trump urged senators to blame for not recognizing the results of that day’s presidential election in the Senate, under allegations of false voter fraud.
