A shooting Thursday outside a church in Vestavia Hills in Alabama (southern United States) left two dead and one injured, city police said, adding that one suspect was in custody.
Three people in the Episcopal Church St. Stephen’s was hit by bulletsdetailed the Vestavia Hills police on its Facebook page.
It also specified that one suspect was currently in custody, and none no further threat for the city.
The shooting took place in front of the church just after 6:00 pm (local time), at a potlucka community meal where everyone brings a dish, according to Saint Stephen’s website.
Police said the culprit entered the church alone and started firing. Three people were affected: two were killed and one was injured, he said.
The United States is experiencing an outbreak of gun violence, specifically through the massacre at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, on May 24, that left 21 dead, including 19 children.
