For the fourth time in eight years, the Golden State Warriors are NBA champions. They beat the Boston Celtics 103-90 in Game 6 of the Finals to capture their first title since 2018.

The Celtics started Game 6 loudly, however, quickly taking a 12-point (14-2) lead. But as is often the case in these series, Boston released the accelerator and saw its opponent return to score before the end of the quarter. And with an 11-0 streak in the final minutes, including Steph Curry’s first 3-point shot after being shut out last game, the Warriors ended the first 12 minutes at 27-22.

The Warriors ’streak continued in the second quarter and Golden State eventually scored 21 straight points before the Celtics could answer. The 21-0 streak is the longest in the final in 50 years.

Leading 54-39 at half-time, the Warriors widened the gap to 22 points at the start of the 3rd quarter and seemed to fly toward the title as the Celtics continued to accumulate turnovers.

But Boston rallied late in the third quarter with a 16-4 streak to break Golden State’s advantage to just 10 points with a quarter in play.

In the fourth quarter, the Celtics bounced back several times with 10 points, but each time the Warriors thwarted their opponents ’attempts to get close.

Steph Curry finished the game with 34 points and, after missing all of her 3-point shots in Game 5, she won 6 of 11 outside attempts in this duel.

Curry was also named Finals Most Valuable Player for the first time in his career. He avoided the trophy in his first three championships, which went to Andre Iguodala in 2015 and Kevin Durant in 2017 and 2018. He averaged 31.2 points per game in the Finals with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

Canadian Andrew Wiggins imposed himself in this final as Curry’s second main. He continued his strong performance with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in Game 6.

On the Celtics side, Jaylen Brown was the top scorer this last meeting with 34 points, but Jayson Tatum struggled with just 6 of his 18 shots for 13 points.
