French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne submitted her resignation request to President Emmanuel Macron after the ruling party lost an absolute majority in parliament in Sunday’s legislative elections, but the head of state did not accept it, according to the president’s statement on Tuesday.
According to the Palácio do Élysée, the president wants the government to “continue to work and act.” To this end, Macron will conduct “necessary consultations” with other opposition parties to produce “constructive solutions”.
