Italy this Tuesday (21) recorded 62,704 cases and 62 more deaths in the covid-19 pandemic, bringing the total number of infections and deaths to 17,959,329 and 167,842, respectively.
The number of positive diagnoses this Tuesday is the highest for a single day in the country since April 28, when 69,204 cases were recorded, according to a release from the Ministry of Health.
The seven-day moving average infections rose to 35,523 on Tuesday, the highest since May 16 (36,137), while the death toll fell from 50 to 48.
Italy also has 599,930 active cases and about 82% of its population have completed their first vaccination cycle against Covid, 67% of people have received additional doses.
While the number of patients admitted to infirmary beds increased from 4,585 to 4,803 in one day, it decreased from 209 to 206 in intensive care units.
